We did it!
Our grassroots, take-no-donations campaign was a success!
The issues carried the day, and I am so very proud to represent the people of Alameda on the school board!
Now, the real work begins...

About Me |
I am a single mother of a son who is entering 6th grade in AUSD.
I was active in my son's elementary school, including serving two years on the School Site Council and two years on the PTA. I know what it is like to support a child in our system. Similarly, I know the very real challenges of raising a child during this time in our community and world. I also know the complexities of being a single parent and a full-time professional and that time is a precious resource. |
I am a lifelong educator with 27 years of experience. In that time, I've been a teacher, school administrator, district leader, and consultant.
My areas of expertise include education finance, district-level systems reform, school-based transformation, and community engagement. I have proven results leading complex changes and building connections across different district departments and constituencies. |
I believe that open and transparent communication is the hallmark to effective leadership.
As a representative of diverse voices and perspectives over the years, I know the power of showing up in the schools and communities I serve, and of listening to those who will be impacted by the choices I make. I also understand the privileges I enjoy, and have a track record of addressing issues of equity and access to ensure that the diversity of our country is represented in our systems. |
More about my expertise...
Candidate Statement
As a parent, educator, and school district leader, my experience is needed as Alameda navigates the changes ahead. In my roles as a classroom teacher and administrator, I have supported student achievement for a wide range of learners, including English Learners and those who receive Special Education services. I have a doctorate in educational leadership, with a focus on education finance, and used that expertise to help the state transition to our new funding formula. I have also guided district-wide strategies for school redesign, budget allocation, facilities upgrades, and development of facilities master plans. As a parent of a middle school student, I have watched my child navigate our system, and was active on the School Site Council and PTA at my son's school. Finally, I am an ally who strongly believes that it is time for our district to take active measures to include diverse voices at all levels of our system. With the uncertainty due to the pandemic, and with the many changes the district is seeking to make, we need experienced leadership on our school board that will be ready on day one to roll up their sleeves and get to work.
